Weekend Recap

12 mile run this morning....1:53:30  (9:28 avg pace)
Hello!!! I have been MIA for far too long in the blog world! I have still been trying to read but I haven't had time to be creative and really post whats on my mind because I've been so gosh darn tired.

Between working full time and not getting off till 6, working on Saturdays, playing softball 2 nights a week, birthday celebrations, and trying to stay on top of my training schedule, it has been crazy busy!

I have not been doing a good job balancing everything these days. I guess I will blame it on those 4 months of freedom with nothing really to do!!!

Since I have been gone, I have moved up in the world a little bit and got one of these snazzy babies!!!
k
I am not a fan of technology because usually it screws me over. I never have to have the latest and greatest of any technology [unless it has to do with running-Garmin 610, you are next on the list!!].
My wonderful sister got an Iphone and let me play words with friends on hers and I fell in love! Sooooo, off to Verizon I went! I was due for the upgrade thank goodness because there is no way you would everrrr get me to pay $700 for a stupid phone!!!
Moral of the story.....I NEED SOME APPS! Any suggestions?!?!
first picture with iphone...love the camera!

We had a good weekend but busy weekend! I ran 8 miles with friends Saturday morning before work. I had my first running mishap! One second I was running and the right side of my body was planted on the cement sidewalk! I think I tripped over an uneven part of the sidewalk! No major injuries thank goodness but it s sure did hurt. I am proud to say I got right back up and ran 4+ more miles!

Saturday night we enjoyed dinner outside on our patio! I love being able to do that now that the weather is cooler! Sunday we headed to church, sunday school, and then Mom, sis, and I were off to the Merry Marketplace Christmas show were I officially started my Christmas shopping! I can't believe its already that time!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!!

Weekend Recap

Whoa, I've been a busy little bee here lately! I love having something to do now but it seems I got a little use to having all that free time and now I feel like I have NONE!

The husband and I had a fun weekend in Charleston this past weekend! One of my friends whom I've probably known the longest got married this past weekend! I think this concludes the bridesmaid duties for a while, whew! It's been nonstop the past few years!!!

Friday night kicked off the festivities with the rehersal and then the rehersal dinner at Harbour Club in downtown Charleston! GW and JW had a beautiful wedding at John Wesley UMC in Mt. Pleasant and then the reception was held at the Charleston Aquarium. It was a very unique and beautiful place for a reception! Watching them together this weekend and experiencing her wedding weekend with her made me want to go back and live mine all over again! It all went by so fast and I wish I could savor each moment just one more time!!

I was preoccupied all weekend so not a lot of running took place and I consumed more junk food than I have in a while! Holy tummy ache on my run this morning! I had to cut from 13 mi down to 7 and then after 7 I still was a mile away from my house. I had to walk the last mile home and if you know me you know that RARELY ever happens. I finished with a 10:05 per mile pace. Better luck tomorrow I hope!

Here are a few pictures from the weekend!

Weekend Recap

Happy Labor Day a little late! :) I was out of town most of the holiday weekend and totally away from my computer (I LOVE being away from the computer sometimes!!)

I enjoyed my holiday weekend with our normal Friday night dinner date with our families at Stefano's followed by a early Saturday morning 19 mile run!

19 miles finished in 3:09 = 9:57 per mile pace

After we finished, I headed straight home to shower and pack last minute stuff and hit the road to the beach. I had no plenty of time to pack and ended up leaving quite a few items at home {Williams-Sonoma wedding gift to exchange, WALLET, beach bag} It was funny to say the least. I guess I was just so pooped that I wasn't thinking straight. BUT, we had a wonderful weekend with friends!

Yumm sushi, PF Changs, fro-yo, time with friends, GAMECOCK FOOTBALL, and some fun in the sun--it doesn't get much better than that!

Only pictures of the weekend!

A Weekend of Firsts

This weekend started off like any other weekend-with the exception of Irene creeping it's way towards the coast.

Friday night we went to a going away party for our close friend Chad who is a military officer and is being deployed for his second tour of Afghanistan very soon. His wife is also 36 weeks pregnant with their second child and we are hoping he will still be here when she delivers! Extra prayers for their family are welcomed!
Saturday morning my alarm went off at 4--17 mile run scheduled for the day--that didn't happen. It was extremely windy and rainy. Thank you Irene. So, instead, we enter my very first YOGA experience.
We have a new Yoga studio downtown called Hapi Balance. To be honest, I've never thought yoga was a real workout and that it was typically for sissies who didn't like to sweat. Well, folks, i was totally WRONG! I was pouring sweat and I learned quickly that yoga was H-A-R-D!
I am so bad at stretching after running so I welcomed these poses to relieve my sore muscles. I actually liked loved the class and the instructor was so knowledgable! I will definitely be heading back to Hapi Balance soon. There is no membership fee and all classes are $5! Get this...she also does deep tissue massages for $15 for 15 minutes! SCORE!

No, I cannot quite do this pose yet, but the instructor did it like it was nobody's business!  Maybe one day!

I met two runners Saturday at 1 for what I thought was going to be an 8 mile run but that didn't happen. I was tired and didn't feel that great. (Yoga did make me dizzy once or twice). So I did 3 miles and called it quits!

Saturday night we headed to the beach to go to a JTB & AB's Housewarming party. We got to see their new house for the first time. It was beautiful and even equipped with an outside kitchen and lounge area. JTB did a wonderful job picking everything out and designing her new home!
CML & CL were in town and I hadn't seen them since our wedding and it was so great to get everyone together!

Saturday night we got back home pretty late and my alarm was set for 4am to meet the girls to try again for our 17 miler. Epic FAIL! I turned the alarm clock off and didn't open my eyes again until it was time for church. SO...no long run for me this weekend. I felt lazy and slack not to mention the nasty yummy party food I consumed Friday night and Saturday night. So I had to do some sort of exercise even though Sundays are usually reserved for rest days.
Enter Crossfit!
My running buddy is a personal trainer/crossfit certified instructor and she has been trying to get me to try it out for a while now. So, LKV and I headed to Competitve Edge to try out the free class they offer on Sundays.

Workout: Warmup- .25 mile run, 10 lunges, 5 burpees, arm stretches using long pipe bar
Workout- AMAP (As many as possible) in 12 minutes:
                                 -5 wall balls
                                 -5 burpees
                                 -100 yd shuffle
Ummm hello intensity!! It was a lot harder than it looked, let me tell you! But, it was fast, intense, and got my heart pumping like crazy! I was sweating up a storm and I was only 2 minutes into the workout! I LOVED IT.
Needless to say I think Crossfit is the perfect workout for me to mix in with my running. I lack the strength traning that I need and I have gotten too set in my running routine-That is about all I do. The membership is quite pricey, but I think it is worth it! Crossfit, here I come! I will keep you posted!

(Praying for all my blogger buddies who endured Irene this weekend. We got a little wind and some rain and that was it-we got lucky. Thinking of all of you as you recover!)
